Sun Valley Sled Dog Adventures Invites You...to take a journey back in time to the days when pioneers, mountain men and Native Americans lived without the modern day conveniences of motorized vehicles. Winter travel was nearly impossible without a sled to haul gear and essentials. Local settlers noticed that sled dogs, first used by Native Americans, were well adapted to the winter climate with their thick, dense furry coats and that their small size enabled them to easily travel over ice and crusted snow. These friendly, eager animals quickly became the standard form of remote winter travel. In the 1930's sled dogs were used by local gold mines to haul in supplies which otherwise had to be carried by foot. When the Union Pacific chose Sun Valley to become an exclusive ski destination, Hollywood stars descended upon the valley to vacation in a winter wonderland. When they took a break from skiing the slopes, movie legends bundled themselves in wooden sleds driven by Inuit guides and experienced the thrill of being pulled by a powerful team of sled dogs. Following in the paw prints of Sun Valley's long mushing history, Brian Camilli owns and operates Sun Valley Sled Dog Adventures as the valley's only sled dog touring service. With six years of mushing experience, Brian and his well trained guides guarantee you a wilderness adventure you will never forget. |
